Nate: Yeah, Twitter comment. Very specific comments, yeah.

Most Challenging Makeover

I think the most challenging makeover we did or I’ve done was, we did it together for the Covenant House in Los Angeles. This is a shelter for homeless youth here in Hollywood. We redid, and Jeremiah redid the whole Center. All the rooms with Oprah and OWN.  Then years later we came back and redid their community room but it needed to function in like eighty different ways and we were very connected to the people there so there was a lot of pressure.

Moving on the Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent candid questions…

Childhood Celebrity Crush?

Nate: My, actually it was Goldie Hawn. I had dinner with her in New York City and I was like paralyzed. You know 20 years with Oprah and I couldn’t speak out loud with Goldie Hawn. Then we started running lines from overboard the movie which is one of my favorites and was my dad’s favorite yeah and everything worked out.

So who was yours, Jeremiah?

I’m gonna say it was Oprah. I’m in then meeting her, years later it was really pretty well.

Last great book you read?

Nate: Just mercy – Just finished it last night. It’s a fantastic book from a written by an attorney who runs an organization to help people who are children who are convicted of felonies and sentenced to death are sentenced to life without parole. It’s a fantastic book. It was a New York Times bestseller as Yolo.

Let’s move on to more design Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent candid questions.

Design trend you love right now?

Nate: I think that there’s been a movement because the world of designs become so saturated with information. Just like fashion that I think people are getting a little bit smarter and slowing down the process of decorating their homes and really picking things that resonate with them. So I like this focus on personalization and thoughtfulness.

Jeremiah: I think you can live beautifully affordably now.

The first thing to do when getting out of bed?

Jeremiah: I meditate and I make a pot of coffee and go through about myself. I got before a.m. before everybody’s up.

Nate: and I wait for the coffee. Let’s ask Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent candid that how does it feel to be a celebrity?

The biggest perk of being a celebrity?

Nate: I think honestly it’s the connections. Like you know you’re always one person away from a doctor you need to get in touch with. If your kids are soft clout it’s that’s that what I think has been the most amazing.

The Love for Food

If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

N & J: Pizza! Pizza all day long every day well very clean.

What’s the luxury you can’t live without?

Jeremiah: Our kids, of course, Nate and Jeremiah Kids.

Nate: Kids, yeah I mean I’m a little bit I’m a little paranoid like I go into like the sort of Jewish Virgo mode with everything. So I like everything. I like insurance, I like the pool cover, I like all the safety stuff.

Jeremiah: But we didn’t think we were ever gonna be able to have children, two gay men. We had surrogacy and standing on the shoulders of a lot of people who did a lot of work for the last you know 50-plus years. So it feels like such a luxury and such a responsibility that I think we’re always kind of very conscious.

One of the most requested Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent candid question is that about the surrogacy process. So…

Did you watch the children born?

Jeremiah: I pulled them both out yeah who cut the cord. I cut Poppy’s and then

Nate: I cut out our son’s Oskar Brent Berkus. I didn’t want to be in the room for either, I wrote for the first for our daughter yeah I was terrified. I said I’m just gonna wait and the nurses in the hospital here in the valley were so wonderful. They looked at me and they said you’re making an enormous mistake.

We don’t know you but we can promise you’re making an enormous mistake just come in the room and we’ll set you up in the corner. If you want to see you can see but be in the room and Jeremiah looked at me and he said if you draw their attention away from what’s happening for one reason.  Like you need juice, or you feel faint I’m gonna shoot you. I’ll kill you. Yeah but I’ve never been more grateful to have never missed a beat.

I love you guys. It’s great seeing real love and respect. When are you going to do another show?

    1. Eileen Rozumialski

Yes, when does the next season start? It’s obvious you put a lot of thought into what you do, however I’m curious have you ever had a client tell you they “didn’t like” what you did. Like you’re way too formal for how I live, I’d probably have to say that.
