The Nate and Jeremiah wedding held on May 3, 2014, at the iconic New York Public Library, was more than just a romantic union. When two of the most influential names in interior design—Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent—get married, it’s bound to be a visual masterpiece and an emotional celebration.
Nate and Jeremiah Wedding
Nate and Jeremiah’s love story began years earlier, culminating in a heartfelt proposal. The couple got engaged in Peru back in 2013. After dating for a year, they celebrated their love with an unforgettable wedding in one of New York City’s most revered landmarks.
Planning the Big Day
Nate Berkus married Jeremiah Brent 11 years ago, as of 2025. Though both are design experts, the couple knew the wedding day would be filled with unpredictable emotions. “We didn’t prepare for everything that could go wrong—and it did,” Nate joked, recalling a humorous moment involving their officiant.
A Beautiful Mishap
Sheri Salata, former president of the Oprah Winfrey Network and the couple’s dear friend, officiated the wedding. As part of the Jewish tradition, Nate and Jeremiah had planned to break a ceremonial glass. But in an unexpected twist, Salata accidentally knocked it over early, sending laughter through the room. It became one of the most cherished and funny moments of the night. Let’s look at some memorable pictures of the event.
Wedding Card

Elegantly minimal, the wedding invitations were designed by Elum Designs for Sugar Press — a perfect reflection of the couple’s timeless taste.
The Venue

Dinner time! Just a glance at the dinner hall. It just looks elegantly fascinating. Held at the New York Public Library, the reception space featured a modern palette of black, white, cream, and gold. Did you know that Brent also celebrated his 40th Birthday Party at NYPL in 2024?
The GuestList

A total of 220 guests attended, including family, close friends, and big names like Oprah Winfrey, Rachael Ray, and Busy Philipps.
Wedding Ceremony
Jeremiah was walked down the aisle by his proud mother, Gwen Johnson, while Nate’s mother held his hand, beaming with emotion.

Nate and Jeremiah taking Vows
As expected, the couple’s vows were deeply emotional. Jeremiah—known for wearing his heart on his sleeve—was overcome with tears. Sheri Salata later reflected
It is simply stunning to witness something like this. I think no one got to walk into that blessing.
Wedding Glass Ceremonial Picture
Both Nate and Jeremiah had planned the glass-breaking tradition at the end of their wedding ceremony. A Jewish tradition, both Nate and Jeremiah agreed that this was the funniest moment of the night. After saying their vows, the couple was ready to break the glass. Salata (officiator) accidentally knocked their ceremonial glasses onto the floor.

Wedding Table

Marcy Blum was the guy Nate and Jeremiah approached for the wedding. Marcy is the wedding planner for Nate and Jeremiah wedding. The reception was done using a palette of black, white, cream, and gold to create a dreamy, modern feel. Nate is an expert in this area as well. The table linens were a contribution from his calico collection, and dinnerware sets from his famous Target line.
Dessert

A keepsake menu, designed by Swiss Cottage Designs. The teeth of the guests were sweetened with confections by Great Performances, each of them left with a special souvenir to recall them of the culinary delights.
Nate and Jeremiah with Oprah

Oprah was the one who gave Nate his first break in his early career. Apart from this, Nate has shared his story of the natural disaster tsunami, on her show. She is one of the closest friends of Nate. Nate lost his partner in the tsunami back in Sri Lanka 2004. Our readers can read the complete story in the link below.
Not only was the guys’ wedding fascinating, but it was history-making as well.
The One After the Wedding
A tender photo shared by Jeremiah on Instagram captured the newlyweds post-ceremony—hands clasped, walking into the next chapter of their lives.
Wedding Band

Everyone wants the band after the ceremony. The Gospel for Teens/Mama Foundation for the Arts delivered a soul-stirring performance. They are Nate’s favorite band. Both the couple and the guests had a great time listening to them. DJ Mad Marj (Marjorie Gubelmann) got the crowd dancing. Singer Estelle surprised everyone with a live performance of “American Boy.”
The Beginning of a Journey

Style Spotlight
Nate Berkus wore a sharp suit by J.Crew. Jeremiah Brent stunned in a tailored Saint Laurent ensemble. Their looks were as timeless as their love.
The Nate and Jeremiah wedding is remembered not just for its elegance and emotion, but for its historical significance. It broke barriers, set design standards, and showed the world what love looks like—unfiltered, authentic, and powerful.
Final Thoughts
Today, we celebrate not only their wedding anniversary but the beginning of a journey that continues to inspire so many. The Nate and Jeremiah wedding was more than a ceremony—it was a statement of love, identity, and artistic expression.
